BIOGRAPHICAL DATA
Anna Gouthier, formerly Anna L. Luciano-Pereira, was born in Belo Horizonte, MG, in November 1947. Daughter of Antônio Luciano Pereira Filho and Clara (Dayrell Catta-Preta) Luciano Pereira. Her father was a well known businessman, industrialist and physician.
She studied at the Sacré Coeur de Jesus, Colégio São Paulo and Instituto Isabela Hendrix, all in Belo Horizonte.
Attended English courses for foreign students during summer vacations at: University of Alabama, Montevallo; St. Michael, Winooski – Vermont; And University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. And French courses at the Institut Catholique de Paris.
From September 1963 to June 1964, she studied at Rosemont College, Liberal Arts Program. In June 1964, she transferred to Boston University School of Business Administration and graduated in mid-1966 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in International Business.
She moved to London, England, in 1967 and in the following years continued his studies of modern languages in Spain, Italy and Germany. In London, she worked for Interbrás Comercio Internacional, Petrobras; and for Canasta Ltd, both in the field of International Business.
Married Elias J.B. Mavroleon, and daughter Beatrice was born in November 1980, and son Basil was born in September 1983, both in London.
In 1989, she moved to Belo Horizonte with her two children, and divorced her husband. In Brazil, she worked in family businesses in the Real Estate sectors and in the production of Cane Sugar. In September 1995, she took over the management of a family hotel, soon also building an annexed Convention Center, renaming this company as: Dayrell Hotel & Convention Center, which she manages to this day.
In 1997 she acquired the Hotel Ouro Verde, in Copacabana – Rio de Janeiro, and the Hotel Del Rey in Belo Horizonte, which she managed under the banner of Dayrell Hotels, until approximately 2004, when she sold them, remaining only with the original headquarters in Belo Horizonte.
In 1999, her two children had returned to the UK; and in 2003 she married Roberto O.S. Gouthier, and they also moved to London.
She currently lives in London and Lisbon, from where she controls her business interests in Brazil, but also returns to her home country once a year to personally oversee operations.
In addition to managing her properties and businesses, she is also a successful author who writes mostly in English, and later herself translates into Portuguese, under the name A.L.P. Gouthier.
In 2017 she released her first book: PINDORAMA & ANCIENT HUMAN TRAILS / PINDORAMA & ANTIGAS HUMAN TRAILS, which covers from prehistory to 1600, and is basically a family saga as it originated from the discovery of an indigenous ancestor of the Botocudo tribe.
Her second book, released in 2021: BRONZE WARRIOR / GUERREIRA DE BRONZE, is a biographical anthology covering the period from 1930, in her parents’ youth, to 2020.
Her next literary production is in a bilingual volume: ANASTASIA PERSEPHONE – ODYSSEY & ODISSEIA. This is autobiographical material originally written as a gift to her children, to be released in 2022.
She then devoted herself to children’s literature, using her two children’s school works, thus producing bilingual volumes, also in English and Portuguese. The first, BASIL ARTS AND THOUGHTS / ARTE E ADAGIOS DO BASIL, to be released in 2022. And, BEATRICE ARTE E PALAVRAS / BEATRICE’S ART AND WORDS to be released in 2023.
Finally, the author has been working for many years in the research for another book entitled HORIZON SAGA / SAGA DO HORIZONTE still without a release date, which will complete the family trilogy covering the years 1600 to 1930.
Having travelled extensively around the world, she collected rich samples of handcrafted textiles with which she produced wall pieces for the decoration of her Hotel and Convention Centre, and from 2017 she also began to design and produce handbags and wallets, using his collection of oriental textiles and upholstery textiles left over from the hotel business, which it sells under the brand name ANASTASIA PERSEPHONE.
