Bronze Warrior – Biographical Anthology
My bronze warrior is largely biographical, and part of an ongoing family saga, but it’s also lyrical and poetic. In my stories, I tend to use some real names, but in other cases I found it better to just use names similar to theirs, or complete pseudonyms. But for the sake of genealogy, whenever possible I include a maternal surname, when I know it, before the paternal surname, and sometimes the marriage surname at the end, as is customary in some parts of the world.
I claim that everyone mentioned in this book actually lived, including those to whom I gave mythological qualities or flaws and about whom I wrote only in lyrical terms. I thought it prudent to replace some names with similar names, usually keeping the initials, when I thought certain people wouldn’t want to see their names in print, as in the case of my immediate family. I also preferred to change the names of my old Greek relationships.

Although the accounts in this book are real, I know that sometimes the stories I tell seem quite intriguing and bizarre. Some of them were strange to me too. We, that is, my immediate family, lived lives that alternated between periods of divine peace, usually within our own circle, and hellish consternation, often provoked by people outside our family. And we experience emotions ranging from happiness and total satisfaction to the opposites of horror, fear and misery, always as a result of external torment. I don’t know if the same could be said for most families, but I doubt it.
It will be clear, then, why I had to live in a country like England, where the sequence of most days is mostly predictable. On this northern island, long-term plans come to fruition without much delay, usually like clockwork. And I think it’s wonderful. In Brazil, plans are ignored, commitments are not kept, dreams are mocked, and dreamers are stoned. Much still needs to change so that people can live in that beautiful country without fear.
